Great tips John! We send a newsletter every Wednesday, and have found that we get the best open rate from that. I never knew though that blue was the preferred color for click throughs. Thanks so much!

Wow...I was beginning to think that most of the US had email access...at least those who had the money and time to travel.

Is it they don't have online access...or email? Can you "give" them an email from your domain?

As for the old fashioned way, you can obviously mail it to them--I would suggest quarterly to hold down the costs and then consolidate your monthly messages into the quarterly printed one. And I might be inclined to overprint and distribute in a flyer stand in restaurants and pizza shops and tanning salons and doctor offices.

You've got some great pointers, John! I use Constant Contact, and I've gone through their tutorials and read through their user support forums, but I STILL learned a few things from your article!

I'm anxious to give them a try and see how things happen. One thing that is really difficult for me right now, is not a lot of my clients have email access. So, email marketing only reaches a portion of my client database. I'm trying to decide how to reach the non-email portion at a reasonable cost.
