Cary Travel Express — Tooting our own horn

Cary Travel Express won the top sales award for MAST (Midwest Agents Selling Travel), which is our consortium. That’s quite an accomplishment! We are very thankful for this honor, and appreciate that our hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed.

Our agency is staffed with very hard-working agents with various areas of expertise, but we all work together. Additionally, our marketing manager has really made a lot of strides to ensure that Cary Travel Express remains a household name in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. She is definitely a key player coordinating the training, marketing materials, invitations for special events, and much more. Two other valuable associates include our outside tech person as well as our bookkeeper. Although they are not selling travel, we would be lost without them. They allow us to be better at what we do.

As we all know, good agents don’t just consult and sell travel. They attend training sessions, network with the vendors, and, of course, travel! In each of my Travel Agent Diaries articles this year, I have tried to convey a consistent theme—to the point of sounding like a broken record.

What have you been doing that’s new or different?

It’s unlikely that agencies are not doing anything new or different — the industry is constantly changing. There is always something to learn or maintain. Our clients, friends, family, and business partners don’t always realize what it takes to be a successful travel consultant. People just assume that in this profession it’s all fun; but it truly takes hard work and dedication–and you have to have a passion for travel. It’s something that I can talk about non-stop.

Now that our agency has achieved this top honor, we really need to work even harder to set ourselves apart and ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best travel experiences.

As a result of the award, on April 11th, our agency was featured in the Northwest Herald. Of course positive press is always good, and this was no different. Many clients saw this and commented that they feel grateful to work with such a wonderful team. And, it has brought us some new clients as well.

We don’t want to change what is working, but hopefully, we can expand and improve on our success and further grow our business.
