Fly All Of Europe With Flybe

Launched in 1979 as Jersey European Airways, Flybe has grown over the years to become the UK and Europe’s largest independent regional carrier, with an extensive route network encompassing over 35 European airports and 36 UK airports.

In 2014 Flybe (BE) underwent a full brand refresh and unveiled a new look and a reinvigorated product and service offering. With an emphasis on reliable, punctual travel, Flybe’s commitment was to be the fastest way from A to B or the “fastest way from A to Flybe”. Realizing customers have a range of practical travel choices, the airline positioned itself as a cost-effective and time-saving alternative to road, and especially rail travel, which is a popular choice within the UK and throughout Europe.

With bases strategically placed around the UK at  Southampton, Exeter – where the company has its corporate headquarters – Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen, the carrier offers frequent service to practically all significant population centers in Britain.  Major hub cities are Birmingham (BHX) and Manchester (MAN)  where flights are scheduled to dovetail into regional and international flight times to allow for seamless connections. Franchise alliances with Loganair and Stobart Air allow Flybe to extend its reach into the Scottish Highlands & Islands and Northern Europe. London is another important city for Flybe, where it uses the smaller, more convenient airports of London City (LCY) and London Southend (SEN). Both are located much closer to central London than LHR or LGW, allowing for easier and quicker commutes to the center of the city.

Flybe offers a 3-tier ticket structure, each providing different levels of service and restrictions. The “Just Fly level is the most restrictive yet the most affordable option, offering 10kgs of cabin baggage and assigned seating at check-in. The “Get More level offers 20kgs of checked baggage allowance, and the “All In tickets allow for pre-assigned seats with the option of extra legroom and other amenities, and also has the most generous checked baggage allowance of up to 40kgs. On board, seating configuration is  2×2, so no need to worry about getting stuck in a middle seat. The airline also offers merchandise for sale on all flights, with duty-free cigarettes and spirits on flights to destinations outside of the European Union.

Although an independent carrier, Flybe has codeshare and interline agreements with Air France/KLM, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, Air Berlin, Delta, Emirates, United, Virgin Atlantic, and many other major international airlines.

Recent route expansions have raised the airline’s profile even higher. Flybe recently added 8 more routes from its Cardiff base to serve Cork, Dublin, Edinburgh, Faro, Glasgow, Munich, Milan Malpensa, and Paris Charles de Gaulle

Out of Bournemouth, services to Manchester, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Jersey, Dublin, Deauville, Toulon, and Biarritz have been added. Flybe has also re-established its Liverpool to Amsterdam route with three-times-a-day service commencing in September. Flights will be strategically timed to coincide with major international departure from AMS.

Flybe can be booked and ticketed by US agents through all the major GDS systems under 2-letter IATA code BE.
