Chris Eason, Reservations Supervisor For Scenic USA and Emerald Waterways

Chris Eason HeadshotI began my career in the travel industry in 2002 as a sales person for a hop-on, hop–off trolley tour company in historic Boston.  Prior experience in the hospitality industry and spending the previous 23 years in Beantown made me a good fit for the position. I grew up here, went to college at Northeastern University, and was (and still am) an all-around Bostonian. My favorite part of the job was welcoming people from different parts of North America and all over the world to “my” Boston.  I appreciated that they chose to visit my city on their vacation, and I wanted them to leave saying the people of Boston are friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

I moved on from local travel to international travel when I accepted a sales position with a large river cruise and land tour operator based in Boston.  Six months after I started, I was given an opportunity to take my first real overseas trip.  I had only ever traveled to Canada before and I didn’t even have a passport yet, so I got one expedited and two weeks later I was doing a Christmas Markets cruise on the Danube.  Austria and Germany are amazing that time of year, the atmosphere is less commercialized and more authentic, and I saw how easy river cruising makes it to see so much without wearing yourself out.  It was a floating hotel, with only about 180 guests on board, excellent guides, great crew, amazing food, and a ton of excellent discoveries along the way.

After Germany and Austria my trips took me to Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, France, Albania, Hungary, Romania, Holland, and Bulgaria.  I’m very excited about my next trip where I’m returning to France to experience my new company’s product this July.  As the Reservations Supervisor for Scenic USA and Emerald Waterways, I’m given an opportunity to experience the product, and I couldn’t be more excited!  My previous river cruises were great and I’m sold on it being the best way to travel in many parts of the world.  I expect that this next one is going to introduce me to the next level of river cruising!

Travel means a lot to me.  I don’t think money is ever wasted on it, I don’t think any expensive education is more valuable than the discoveries that will change your life when you travel internationally.  When we travel to foreign destinations, those destinations change the way we look at our own worlds each day. Nowadays I share my love of travel with my beautiful 4 1/2 year old little girl at our home in Boston. Outside of travel I enjoy the simpler pleasures of life: gardening, cooking amazing dishes, splashing around at the beach, and just generally enjoying the outdoors.  I also love to work with like-minded people who appreciate culturally intimate travel, and I hope everyone gets their opportunities to seek the endless wonders, to touch, feel, and smell the destinations they dream about navigating.
