  • Buenos Aires, the capital of romantic Argentina, is one of the most energetic regions in all of South America. This beautiful city is the perfect blend of European aesthetics with Latin flair, creating a metropolis full of hidden architectural surprises. One of these stunning buildings is the Presidential House (Casa Rosada), the executive mansion of Argentina’s head of state, La Presidenta. It is from the balcony of this building that famous Argentinian leaders, including Juan and Eva Perón, spoke to the people of Argentina throughout the 20th century, and the public can visit a museum attached to the structure.
  • Near the Presidential House is the Plaza de Mayo, the center of Buenos Aires’ political center and gathering place for activists. In 1945, a mass demonstration was held in the park demanding the releasing of Juan Perón, who would eventually become President of Argentina. The park is gorgeous and continues to be a frequent draw for tourists. On Thursdays, the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, or the Mothers of the Disappeared, demonstrate and educate the public about Argentina’s dark history when their children were taken away by a secretive government.
  • One of the oldest and most fascinating neighborhoods in Buenos Aires is, without a doubt, San Telmo. This area of the city offers some of the most influential educational and cultural institutions dating back all the way to the 17th century, huge antique and fresh produce markets, and tango dancing in the streets. This neighborhood is filled with energy and history, and is considered by many to reflect the heart of Argentina itself. No trip to Buenos Aires could be complete without a visit to this vibrant and fantastic neighborhood.
  • One of the most popular and stunning sights in South America, Iguazú Falls is a chain of waterfalls nearly 3 kilometers in total. Located between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina against a lush tropical rainforest backdrop, the mist rising from the crashing water and illuminating rainbows against the trees is a breathtaking sight you will truly only see once in a lifetime.
  • The bustling city of Rio de Janeiro almost needs no introduction, from its superb beaches to its fun-filled annual Carnival festival, this city is one of the few that truly has it all. Carnival season sees quite a few visitors, with over two million people taking to the streets of Rio de Janeiro to indulge themselves before the 40 days of Lent and penance begin.
  • For those looking for the more relaxed and laid-back side of Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach is your perfect escape. This 4 kilometer beach is favored by both tourists and locals alike, the true sign of the perfect beach. On either side of the beach are forts: Fort Duque de Caxias, built in 1779, and Fort Copacabana, built in 1914. The beach comes alive during New Year’s Eve when two million revelers flood the sands, enjoying the hotels, restaurants, bars, and night clubs on the promenade lining the beach.
  • Built between 1922 and 1931 by French sculptor Paul Landowski, Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Located on Corcovado Mountain, this 98 foot tall statue is comprised of soapstone and reinforced concrete and has become a beloved icon of Christianity all over the world, and is visible from almost every part of the city. In 2010, the statue underwent renovation, making it waterproof and restoring the internal iron structure. The statue can be accessed by train, bus, or van.
