Boomerang Escapes – More mayhem, but in a good way

Dear Travel Diary….

I feel I should be starting these monthly writings with that, (as I chuckle to myself). As I mentioned last month, I decided to invest in GIFTE’s Diamond Mastermind Program. I know it may seem odd with ink fresh on the divorce papers and a pending move across the country to spend this kind of money now. But that was exactly the point of why I chose to do it. What better time for me to invest in my business than when a major change is on the horizon? Therefore, investment made, April kicked off with our first Diamond Mastermind Meeting in Charlotte.

There are only 10 agency owners in the program and we arrived at the Ballantyne for two intensive days of “hot seats” and masterminding. It really is a safe and sacred environment that is created amongst us, so I won’t be sharing the nitty gritty details. Let’s just say, the gates to move forward were thrown open. I received so much from my coaches and the other owners as we evaluated the obstacles and changes I was facing against the overall plan of how to grow my business, which is approaching its 3-year anniversary. And with any event that we attend as travel industry professionals, we all know for as much that goes on in the “classroom,” there is even more that goes on during the networking as you soak in what you hear and learn from others.

My chats over lunches, dinners, or drinks with colleagues and coaches have now laid a skeletal framework for how I would like to restructure my organization. As we continue our year together via this series, I will continue to share the strategies and changes that will come about from this newborn plan. I was very excited as the last hours of the trip wound down at the prospect of what I am about to do for my business.

Maybe the program was an omen; for when I arrived home I had an offer on my house. The house was barely on the market 3 weeks. I could not be more blessed. The good news led to fast action on my part, scheduling a trip to New Jersey to house hunt (aka find a new home/office location in a one hour by train radius from NYC). Of course, I’d already spent the previous month making connections and researching for the inevitable. I had my realtor, and my selection of cities narrowed down. The first day left me a bit deflated, but by the second day, I was elated. I left New Jersey with an offer made on suitable property number one. Yes, a smart girl always keeps her options open.

Next month, I’ll let you know how it all pans out, and which home took the bid for my new location. The crazy and insane realization for me this past month is that I have built a brand and travel company in such a way that I can live and operate pretty much anywhere my heart desires. All I need is a device as simple as a phone and a Wi-Fi connection, and I’m ready to send my clients to their “happy place.” In 3 years, I have not only created a thriving business, but live a life I have designed based on my passions.
