Launch: Pull, Don’t Push

“So instead of shouting at your prospects, what if you engage them in a conversation?”

Launch: An Internet Millionaire’s Secret Formula To Sell Almost Anything Online, Build a Business You Love, and Live the Life of Your Dreams — Jeff Walker, page 24

This strategy is all about “greasing” the skids and methodically preparing your prospects for the offering that will soon become available to them. In a true sense of the word, it involves “pull” marketing rather than the old fashion “push” marketing approach.

I have always said that it is easier to receive guests into your home than to be on your best behavior when entering another home. Likewise, it is easier to answer a phone call than it is to initiate one. Similarly, if we can get our prospects engaged prior to the sale the communication will appear natural and fluid.

I suppose you can interpret my recommendations as an attempt to establish yourself into position of control. This is not egotistical or arrogant. It does allow you to demonstrate your personality which I would hope is your best shot at making a favorable impression.

For the next 30 days, I want you to think of ways you can get your prospects engaged in conversation.

    Hi Mike,
Thank you for the book recommendation. I purchased the book, not realizing it wasn’t a travel specific topic, but from your recommendation alone. I’m really enjoying the read and taking my time to work through the exercises. I’d like some recommendations on ways a travel agent can engage our clients with “Pre-Launch” touch points. I was starting to get a bit discouraged as I’m stumped on how his pre-launch approach with Squeeze Pages and email campaigns apply to our industry prior to the sales conversation. TIA for your input!
