9 Savvy Social Visibility Tactics to Fire up your Marketing

Posted on by in TRO SMITH

How popular are you?

Remember back in high school all the cool kids hung together and the rest of us… well, we were in awe.

Now that social marketing is part of our business lives, being popular socially takes on a life of its own. While gathering fans is important, it’s more important that your fans LOVE you and want to be a part of your conversations.

Firing up clients and potential new clients to seek out your social sites and then engage with you can be a challenge. Here 9 hot and savvy ways to let people know where to find you socially and why they need to join your conversations. We’ll start at a novice level and move into more advance and socially savvy tactics.1. Embrace your email signature line. Include a reason why your email readers would want to cruise over to your social sites. When we include a call to action or show them the WIIFM, it grabs their attention.

How about saying something like “Do you want to learn more about cruising? When you ‘Like’ my Facebook page, you’ll find travel tips and unique cruise destinations you may not have considered.” Remember to hyperlink the highlighted section directly to your social site.

Bonus tip: Do you have a unique weekly theme for your social posts? If so, you may want to add a PS at the bottom of your email signature letting people know what you’re talking about that week. For example, maybe next week you’ll be talking about cruising the rivers of Asia. Write a PS that intrigues and teases. Then hyperlink to your social site. When you change this message weekly, it keeps things fresh and elevates your email signature to a subtle marketing tool.

2. Incorporate icons on your website. Are there a social icon buttons on each and every page of your website? Do they lead people directly to each of your social sites?

Many times I see websites where the social links are broken or worse yet, simply encourage readers to share your website socially. The easy fix is to test those buttons to make sure they directly link readers to your current, well-populated sites.

Bonus tip: Include a website plug-in to pull your Facebook activity onto your website and provide social credibility. That way your website viewers will be able to see what’s happening on your Facebook page and see how many of their Facebook friends also like your business page.

3. Spotlight social icons/apps on your Facebook page. Have you seen some Facebook business pages that have a series of social apps just below their cover image? What about on the left side of a business page? Those apps and icons are easy to add and provide people with the nudge they may need to join you on another social platform.

Bonus tip: Check out WooBox to easily add other social apps to your Facebook page. It’s FREE and really simple to set up.

4. Key Words are Key! Did you know the About section on your Facebook business page is searchable? Twitter, Pinterest, Google + and Instagram bio and description sections are also searchable. Maximize your use of your key words and you’ll instantly be more searchable within the platform and on organic searches. What an amazing SEO opportunity.

5. Break Out Blogs. Double your efforts by including social sharing buttons at the bottom of your blog. These tools provide people with the opportunity to share your blog with their social friends on a variety of platforms. Don’t miss the opportunity to extend your reach.

Tool tip: Check out Shareaholic for a variety of social sharing buttons.

6. Blog & Facebook = BFF. Leverage your blog by automatically sharing it to Facebook. Yep, that’s right; each time a new blog post of yours goes live you don’t have to worry about creating a Facebook post for it. What’s a BFF (Best Friend Forever) for?

Tool tip: Tools like Graffiti and Networked Blogs will do the heavy lifting for you with an announcement post on Facebook of your latest blog post.

7. Embed and Empower. Did you know that you can embed Facebook posts, Instagram images, SlideShares, Google +, You Tube, Pinterest Pins, and Tweets into your blog and even into some e-newsletter applications? When you embed directly into a blog post, you’ll show and tell people what they’ll find when they follow you. They may not have realized you were on their favorite social site until they see it embedded into your blog or newsletter.

Bonus tip: You’ll typically find embed codes in the share section of a post. Here’s how: Embedding a Facebook post is easy.

8. Innovative Integration. How about creating a Facebook post that invites people to follow you on Twitter? Have you thought about tweeting about your latest Pinterest board? What about inviting your Instagram followers to subscribe to your YouTube channel? This can be as easy as creating a graphic and including it in your line-up of weekly posts. Entice people with a short, snappy post.

Tool tip: An easy way to create imaginative graphics is with tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, and PicMonkey.

9. Video Rules! Creating and posting video to your social sites is the most likely way to garner those coveted shares. Take that 1 step further and create a short video showing people why they need to follow and fan your social pages. Consider creating a short video showcasing some of your top posts, tweets, photos and graphics. Post this video socially and embed it into your blog and newsletter.

While social marketing isn’t a popularity contest, it is an invaluable way to market your business, increase your credibility and gain new clients. In the world of travel, that trifecta is awe-inspiring.
