This past month has been a real test of being able to jump between tasks. Some days the phone didn’t ring and there were only a few emails as well. After a couple of days in a row like this, I was starting to worry about finances if things continued this way. Then the phone rang and the emails flowed!
During the quiet times, after cleaning my desk I found a folder of articles. Most were ones I’d printed from various Travel Research Online contributors. These were things I wanted to do and have been looking at for years. I decided it was time to stop planning and to start implementing. So far I’ve started Facebook and Pinterest pages, and I’ve created a schedule for posting as well.
In addition, I am working on updating my LinkedIn profile. Sometimes I tend to over think what I’m doing and it slows down the process. Do I look professional in this picture? Does this the content reflect what I want for my business? Another item on my list is putting out a newsletter.
The busier times are a result of what I’d like to think is my success of how I’ve ‘trained’ my clients over the years of working with them. People are looking to book a warm destination for February – great, a six-month advance inquiry. I have a number of clients who like a specific room category at resorts where there are only a few units. It’s so much nicer for me to be able to offer options rather than just what may be left. No one likes the dregs—in rooms or wine! They now know that booking further in advance will give them their choice of resort, suite, and flight options. Others are doing multi-generational trips, and again doing it well in advance gives them many more choices.
However, without a doubt, the best part of the past 6 weeks has been the birth of two more granddaughters! More doting for me!
