Marketing Magic: Customer Satisfaction Campaigns

“Finding customers is the single most difficult marketing activity for small to mid-size companies.”

Marketing Magic by Don Debelak, page 150

This may be true, but it doesn’t have to send you into a frenzy. Let’s back off and give this finding customers thing a fresh coat of paint.

Before making it your business to add to a number of profitable new accounts to your customer list, I want you to make sure that those important customers already on the list are singing your praise. This can only be achieved the current customer satisfaction campaign.

I want you to call your top clients and thank them for the business within the next five days. My rationale for doing this is simple: Your clients are somebody else’s prospects. By the very nature of the hunt, they will find more energy in pursuing your customers then you will spend keeping up. Do yourself a favor and put everything you can into solidifying the relationship right now before it is too late.

Once this is done, it is time to go out and find a few more clients. The fastest way to increase your client list is to request help from your already satisfied clients in the form of an introduction to one or more of their friends. Inviting your current clients to an event and suggesting they bring one of their friends to the same event is also an efficient way for you to grow your list.

After these no-brainers, you have a number of options. You can write a series of educational articles and submit them to local periodicals. You can host a webinar or teleconference focusing on the popular destination at the time of your broadcast. This, too, will prove to be an efficient way to increase your client base.

As much as the term is bandied around, both pro and con, never underestimate the power of a good email message. As long as you make the subject of your email enticing and the resulting call to action meaningful, a number of good things will come of it.

Finding new clients will never be easy. The key, if there is such a thing, is to plug in a program that you feel comfortable with and then work it on a regular basis. Before you know it, your hard work will begin to pay dividends.

One thing is for absolutely sure. If you do nothing to grow your business, you assure your business will not grow.
