Blissful Cruising

Norwegian Bliss has been available to book for some time now, although the ship does not start sailing until Spring 2018. As consumers and travel agents alike wait in anticipation, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) occasionally releases more information about the ship, and its innovations. This week saw Norwegian releasing more information about firsts at sea, such as laser tag and the largest race track at sea.

Laser Tag that’s Out of This World

Norwegian Bliss will have laser tag at sea, but it won’t be your run of the mill routine laser tag. No, this open-air laser tag is themed with a complete story line. According to NCL, “human colonizers have lost contact with Planet Earth. It’s up to you to find them while searching an abandoned spaceship in this fast-action experience at sea.” The pictures (found by clicking here) definitely look promising.

Get Ready to Race your Heart Out

The largest racetrack at sea will be a two-level competitive track that will surely put your driving skills to the test. Passengers will be able to compete against each other driving go-karts around a 1,000 foot track. According to NCL the go-karts will have four speed settings, topping out at 30 miles per hour. For thrill seekers there’s even a turbo boost. The first racetrack at sea also belongs to NCL, on the Norwegian Joy. However, the track on the Norwegian Bliss will be approximately 40 percent longer.

Aqua Park

NCL also announced that Norwegian Bliss will include two multi story slides. One will have a loop extending over the side of the ship, plus a see-through loop stretching down to the deck below; probably not for the faint at heart. The second slide will have passengers racing side-by-side on inner tubes, including a translucent section providing ocean views.

New Dining Ventures

The announcements and new features weren’t limited to thrills and entertainment. NCL also announced a new restaurant that will be onboard the Norwegian Bliss: Q Texas Smokehouse. Q is short for BBQ. “Smoked over hickory, oak and pecan wood, all our meats are infused with delicious flavors – whether ribs, chicken or brisket. Tap your country boots to the beat of live country music, and dig into some authentic Texas BBQ.” My mouth is already watering.

678 Ocean Place

This isn’t your grandfather’s Centrum. 678 Ocean Place is three decks of activity located at the center of the ship, including entertainment (with Bliss Casino as well as The Cavern Club), specialty dining (like Ocean Blue, Coco’s and Teppanyaki), and bars and lounges (like Sugarcane Mojito Bar and The District Brewhouse).

Norwegian Bliss will have more than enough to satisfy everyone in the family!
