Change Your World!

Have you noticed that some people walk around looking as if they have just lost their best friend? These people communicate to the world that life is, and will continue to be, an unfair experience for them. Daily existence for them is a total drag, while life offers nothing in return for their “showing up.” If you know one or more of these individuals (and I’m betting that you do), let me suggest that trying to improve the future of anyone engaged in an exercise in self-pity is an exercise in futility.

It is not your responsibility to get these people singing happy songs. Your job is to get your thinking straight, in gear and firmly positioned so that you can contribute to those eager to enjoy the ride. It may sound self-serving, but you have to take care of you first. Borrowing from a Navy Seal dictum: “A dead man can’t save anybody.”

Here’s this week’s phrase that pays: ”You can’t change the world…but you can change your world.”

Your job is to energize yourself while making certain that you don’t get confused for the walking dead. Once you take care of you, your actions will do the rest. People are attracted to individuals who are alive, energetic, and happy – who have ideas and exciting notions about life – who have kind things to say about others.

So, if you truly want to become the exception, pick a game…any game…and then get into the game. Become a positive player.

And what better time to start showcasing the new and attractive you than today?

So what areas in your life need some attention? Here is a suggestion. Focus on your strengths and work on improving them a little bit each day. Most people try to shore up their weaknesses. I would rather see you get better at what you do best and keep getting better. Bringing weaknesses up to average or mediocre won’t help you position yourself as the go-to resource.

It is time that you start changing your word. The best time to start is right now.
