When I began this year, my number one New Year’s resolution was to learn about why people set goals, and then never reach them. Like you, I’ve made that list year after year, only to see it fall by the way side; usually around March.
When I look back at the last ten months or so, a lot has been accomplished. The new website is finally done thanks to our local website designer, and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. Megan, our Book Yourself Solid coach is starting a group coaching program later this month with our dealership locations that I feel confident will help them grow their individual sales.
Last month one our agents took on our social marketing, and has already grown our Facebook fan base to over 200 fans. We’ve been Twittering and blogging and sharing our hotel reviews and photos on Facebook and Trip Advisor, and for the most part have gotten a positive response. I also decided to try out some pay per click advertising on Facebook, and was stunned at how many clicks we could get in such a short amount of time. I also learned that clicks don’t always mean sales, and that if you don’t really understand pay per click advertising, it can get you about the same return on investment as putting your money in a slot machine. Fortunately we had the forethought to set a very low daily spend and per click limit.
It’s hard to believe there are less than 100 days left in this year. I don’t know if we’ll get to scratch everything off our checklist that we put on it when we started. I do know that sticking to your resolutions beyond the first few weeks of the year requires more concentration than I ever imagined. I think next year, my goal will be to have less goals, and more days off.
