Simply Europe Travel – Exposed and vulnerable

As I sit here in front of my computer, I’m experiencing equal amounts of excitement, hope and terror.  2011 was a year that made me realize that I needed to shake things up in 2012.  I’ve decided to take the plunge and go after several prizes I’ve had my eye on over the years, things that I had always thought about with a, “one day I’ll ______ (fill in the blank)” which usually end with a sigh.  But not now. I’m finding that in order to succeed I’m going to have to stretch and really put myself out there; to leave my warm cozy comfort zone behind and expose myself.

Are you intrigued?  Can you relate?

As I typed “expose myself,” the Ray Steven’s song The Streak began to play in my head.  No, that’s not the kind of “expose” that I’m talking about, but it may as well be.  I imagine that the motivations and feelings you would get from running in front of others in your birthday suit could be similar.

So maybe you’re wondering in what ways I’ve chosen to expose myself.

  1. I’ve moved back to an IC business model
  2.  I’ve begun hosting , mentoring and motivating other like minded agents
  3. Europe has been one of my long-time loves, but now I’m formally specializing
  4.  I’m turning away clients that aren’t right for my business model. (Referring them to other agents.
  5.  I’m diving head first into Social Media. I’m living in a blogger, tweeter, posting world! Yikes
  6.  I’m writing this article. Double Yikes!
  7.  I’m working within the travel industry in an agent, advisory, and educator role

Oh my, what have I gotten myself into?  From my side, it looks a bit overwhelming at times, but you know what?  I’m ok with that.  The travel industry has been good to me over the last twenty years and I want to give back and reposition myself in the industry, but at a different angle.  I’ve met some great people, visited some amazing places and learned more than I ever imagined that I would.  I mean, how many people are still passionate about their choice of careers 20 years later?

So this year as I begin to stretch, I’ve committed to share my successes and challenges in an effort to benefit both of us; and maybe to inspire you to expose yourself too!  Either way we can be sure that the results will be something to behold!
