Assume for the moment you are looking for a job. I can guarantee that your resume looks like every other resume that has been submitted. The secret to winning that job is to package yourself as something different–something special–something unique. Take a risk. Stand out from everyone else in the rank and file. Don’t be just another applicant.
As a hungry travel agent, I presume you are looking for new business. Here’s your harsh dose of reality–every travel agent in the country looks, sounds and acts the same. Your job is to be the new job candidate. Are you following me?
People looking at resumes know that a candidate will not fill it with lousy references or failed experiences. The people looking at the resume know that most of it is mostly fluff and little to no substance. If I were reviewing resumes, I would simply look the candidate in the eye and say, “let’s skip the glowing puffery and cut right to the chase. Why should I hire you?”
Makes sense, doesn’t it? Now, back to your agency. The travel world is full of “me-too only better, faster and cheaper” options. How refreshing would it be to you as a consumer if a service provider (any service) looked you directly in the eye and told you what they could do for you, with words you could understand. I bet it might just get your attention…and your business.

Your prospects and customers are not morons. All they want is to find somebody they can trust and rely on who is professional enough to get the job done.
