Cary Travel Express – Moving on slightly thinner

As I wind down my year of Travel Agent Diaries, I would like to say that sharing my successes and failures with the travel agency community at large has been an educating experience. Sharing my story and reading stories from others has presented a unique and valuable opportunity.

Our agency is a member of MAST; and recently, an associate left the business to move back home. And, we just lost a 19-year veteran at Cary Travel Express as she pursues her passion for everything Ireland.

While these transitions might be difficult, unexpected, and shocking, we must also be happy for them. As we all know, business does go on. It might not be the same, but maybe we will grow and learn from this change—we always do. Although this news came during the summation of my Travel Agent Diary series, I think it might also be the start of new opportunities.

Sometimes people get stuck in a rut, and it’s hard to see the horizon. It’s not good to be stagnant, and while change is difficult, it can also be very positive. There is always good in the bad, and we will survive; we will become stronger; we will make changes; and we will continue being successful in selling travel to the Cary Travel Express community.

We will wrap up this year by celebrating our co-workers’ accomplishments instead of grieving our own losses.  As co-workers, we will be together one last time at our Christmas party in December.

Thank you for letting me share our story with you. It might not be as exciting as the Kardashians, The Jersey Shore, or Housewives of Orange County, but I appreciate the opportunity to share our experiences throughout these months with the travel agent community. And, who knows? Maybe we could start our own reality show?
