Simply Europe Travel – The dragon has been slayed

Well, this is my last article for 2012 and I’d like to say goodbye and thank each of you who took the time to read one or more of my pieces.  I hope that you found something that I wrote which either helped you or made you laugh out loud!

For me, this year was about confronting fears and getting out of my comfort zone in order to do some good things for my business.  Chief among them was writing for TRO’s Travel Agent Diaries.   I’ve enjoyed writing, not only for your benefit, but for mine too.  You can ask anyone with whom I’ve ever worked, and they will tell you that I really like helping my friends and co-workers.  I love the travel industry and was looking for a way that I could give back to the industry that I’ve enjoyed for the last 20 years.  I really wanted to encourage others and make a difference if I could.

Some of you may remember my first submission when I was terrified that I had decided to put pen to paper, or in reality, finger to keyboard.  The little voice in my head was telling me to do anything possible to avoid the commitment.  The point is I didn’t listen to that little voice screaming in terror that I was going to fall flat on my face.  2012 has almost gone, and I DID NOT fall flat on my face. Yes, I did fall on my hiney in a beautiful Old Italian Villa in Florence, but that will have to be a story for another time.

Writing for TRO this year has required me to take a few moments to pause and reflect on my progress in relation to my goals.  Having to evaluate and then be able to let our readers know where I was gave me an insight that I’d not had before.  It’s also funny that on more than one occasion I found myself thinking, “this would be good to put in my next article.”

I challenge each of you to look at new and never before tried options to expand yourself and your business.  It doesn’t have to be totally off the wall – just something that other people are doing that you never thought you could do yourself.

Getting out of my own way and writing has been a great opportunity for me, and one that I hope some of you will consider for yourselves.  I’m currently looking for my next new and terrifying adventure that will help me and my business stretch in 2013.  I hope I have the chance to share it with some of you!

I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, and a Joyous and Prosperous New Year.

  1. Trish, you should know that you have an “about me” page withing your main page that narrows down your ideal persona. I just spent $$ learning how to write an about me page and yours is the prefect model!
