Do You Practice it…them?

How badly do you want it… them?  How hard are you willing to work for it… for them?  Are you prepared to put in the extra time (hours, days, and weekends), and sacrifice for it… for them?  What about your family… do they want it/them as well… as badly as you do?  What is it…them, you ask?  I am referring to your dreams, goals, and aspirations!

I live my life and drive my business on the premise that we can all achieve what we believe with practice and setting meaningful goals.  The short-term goals that you set on a daily basis are just as important as the big hairy audacious dreams and goals, but it always starts with your own personal intention to value yourself enough to make a difference in your life and business.

It’s natural to want more in your life and business but, are you prepared to do things differently to achieve more?  Many people have given up on their dreams (sadly… 80% of North American’s don’t even have a goal) or have forgotten how to dream and just basically live day to day with no aspiration to improve their life or themselves.  Professionally, you say you set goals in your business to grow it but have yet to see any results.  Well let me ask you (1) “How often are you practicing writing out your goals?”, and (2) “Are they even specific, measureable, attainable, realistic, and timely goals that align with your family goals?”  My intention is to help you change that in 2013 as I sincerely believe you need to begin practicing setting small goals on a daily basis, and grow your confidence, to get to the point that you can actually believe in the larger and more meaningful ones.

One of the many contributing factors why so many people fail to achieve their goals is because they do not PRACTICE trying / wanting to achieve something often enough.  We all know practice makes perfect and that hard work makes its own luck, so let’s apply that same principle here to setting goals!  Imagine this…if you practiced setting a goal every day and actually achieved that goal every day do you not think you would raise your own personal confidence in wanting to set more goals in different areas of your life and / or business?  I believe you would!

Here are a few of my tips to help you begin setting daily goals that will help you practice wanting it / them badly enough:

(1)    Personally, every time you exercise (walking around the block, cycling, spinning, running, or yoga) set a goal and commit to achieving it.  The goal can be number of steps walked with a pedometer, a timed goal, a calorie-burned goal, or a distance-goal but, however you set your smart goal… finish it!  Over time with patience, perseverance and practice you will develop the additional energy, stamina, and confidence to set higher goals and then start to see the changes you want to see (please consult your physician before attempting aggressive workouts!).

(2)    Professionally, set a goal to post useful and valuable content on your Facebook ‘Like’ page three (3) times a day.  Practice makes perfect here…commit to growing your daily presence and travel top-of-mind awareness to get in front of people who want your social, yet relevant, travel information.

(3)    Practice writing out your goals daily and reinforce to yourself what matters the most.  Only you can make authentic changes in your life.  By taking the time on a daily basis to write out your dreams, goals, and priorities in life and business, you begin to focus on them throughout the day.  Science says, “Like attracts like”.  Combine the law of attraction with the law of action and start each day with positive intention.  By practicing putting your most treasured thoughts ahead of everything else, you end up wanting it/them more than anything else.
