Places to See

Busan’s beaches are widely known throughout Korea, and stay quite busy during the summer months. Haeundae Beach is particularly popular to most tourists because of the number of international hotels and high-quality restaurants. If you’re looking for something a little less crowded during this time of the year, Songjeong Beach might be a better option. This is an ideal beach for families because of its shallow waters and fine sand. An added bonus? The Harvest-Moon Seaweed Festival and the Songjeong Beach Festival are held here every year, drawing in many visitors to take part in the activities. The Gwangalli Beach, similar to Haeundae, is another great spot that is best experienced at night when the Gwangan Grand Bridge is illuminated.

For those who want to do a bit of exploring, the Beomeosa and Yongungsa Temples provide places of serenity for worshipers, hikers, and tourists, alike. Yongungsa is famous for its beautiful Buddhist statues and sculptures, and, when combined with its exquisite architecture, create a magical experience for all visitors.

Among the other “must-see” tourist spots are the Yongdusan Park-Busan Tower, the Haeundae Dalmaji Walk, and the Nakdonggang Estuary Seasonal Bird Migration Site. Busan offers its visitors a wide variety of options for leisure and fun, while incorporating the South Korean culture and traditions.

Things to Do

Whether you’re enjoying your time in Busan by the coast or inland, there isn’t a short of unique venues to explore. If you aren’t taking a jet ski for a spin at Haeundae Beach, you can take a walk through the Busan Aquarium and get up close and personal with some of the Korean marine life.

The city also hosts the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) every year. Walk down Nampodung Street and you’ll see copper plates imprinted with the hands and footprints of past BIFF winners. If you happen to be visiting in October, walk into a local theater and where they are screening many of the new films for the festival.

In the mood to taste some local food? Busan has a multitude of restaurants serving local Korean cuisine, as well as many bars and cafes. The Food Hall at Shinsegae Department Store, located in Centum City, mirrors a mall food court and serves everything from fresh sushi to sweet and savory crepes. The famous OPS bakery is another great eatery for any food junkies looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. If you’re looking for something a little extra, the Red Door advertises a four course lunch option that is sure to have your taste buds buzzing.

Mixed with divine culture, unique attractions, and exquisite landscapes, the city of Busan is rich in experiences for all.
