How to guarantee your success in the travel business

Want to know the secret to getting more clients? Making millions in the travel industry? Being wildly successful? So would I. Unfortunately, there really isn’t a magic bullet or pill to take for instant success.

What I do know is it takes hard work, dedication, education, getting out there, patience, and a positive attitude.

There are myriads of tools online including TRO to help you get started and grow your business, and lots of trade shows, home based agent publications and forums to help you. It’s like gardening. You plant seeds, water, weed, and nurture them. But if you don’t put the time and effort into your business, you are either going to wind up with a bunch of weeds or no growth.

If you are serious about your business, a business and marketing plan is a must. There are no shortcuts. Marketing your business is crucial. Know who your ideal clients are, and go after them.

Surround yourself with positive people who motivate you and hold your feet to the fire. If you can, find a mentor. Get out of your office.  Plant seeds by joining networking and civic organizations such as your Chamber, Rotary, Kiwanis, etc. Have an elevator speech prepared to tell people what you do and the value you bring. Don’t hard sell. Be authentic. Use social media; but again, don’t sell. You are building relationships and nurturing the seeds. Find a cause you are passionate about and volunteer. Pay it forward.

Lastly, be patient. It takes time, effort, and hard work to grow your business. The end results are worth it.
