Make your clients feel “rich”

“You’re not rich until you have something money can’t buy.”

This quote truly summarizes the thought we want to convey to our clients! Since they are purchasing an intangible item and making an investment in creating quality use of time, both of those purchases are really priceless. Our clients are not actually buying a material item for personal use or to display in their home – they are spending their money on an experience. Time is obviously something money cannot buy; yet it must be spent wisely, and the only remaining evidence of time well spent are personal memories.

In our current society, with present day stress and less personal interactions, people are seeking out a more richly lived life. Naturally, everyone wants to feel financially secure; but the real richness of life is evidenced in family life, meaningful work, robust health, and engaging experiences. Our work summarizes all of these elements and delivers them into one beautiful package! Whatever a client’s budget, richness can be found in reconnecting, relaxation, new adventures, and exploration. It may be argued that money can buy a vacation or enhance the quality of experience, which is certainly true. The monetary exchange, however, is not the actual catalyst in the positive feeling your client is seeking.

I also try to incorporate this philosophy into my daily business practice. Travelers have a multitude of channels to “buy” a trip. What intangibles can you give clients that money cannot buy? The possibilities are endless! Respect, manners, patience, integrity, trust, and a positive attitude all cannot be bought. Again, remember we’re all seeking that richness; and when clients are made to feel important, when you keep in touch, when special touches show you care – you have enriched someone’s travel experience before they even set foot out their door!

Many studies have documented the state of happiness in relation to thinking of an object compared to remembering an experience; and the happy memories always win over materialistic objects. “You’re not rich until you have something money can’t buy” — remember the richness of life clients are seeking and that will, in turn, pay dividends towards your professional satisfaction as well!
