#5: Networking Secrets

Everyone tells you that you should network. At the very least you should work your net.

If you were like me you were not particularly fond of walking into a room full of strangers figuring out what to say that you will make an impression. Good news. You don’t have to.

  1. You’re not attending this event to “sell.” Therefore there is no need to exhibit any stress whatsoever.
  2. You were attending this event to meet a few proactive, interesting, fun, and energetic people who enjoy playing the business game. Chances are a few of them are in the room. Your challenge is to find them.
  3. Your job is to ask questions so you get others to open up with you.

The fastest way to do this is to become interested in others. You go to networking events as an interested participant knowing that there will be a few people worth getting to know. There will also be a few bozos. Just don’t become one of the bozos.
