“You must understand that your journey through life is special. The twists and turns and detours have made you what you are today.”
EVEN EAGLES NEED A PUSH by David McNally, page 64
Chapter 4: Self Appreciation
I am sure you already beat me to this message.
Translation: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
The travel industry does not corner the market on this statement, as we both know that plenty of stuff happens in our business, and some stuff can be filed in the “Why Me?” folder.
Some stuff is down-right devastating, while other stuff just slides off your back. Some stuff stings while other stuff makes you laugh and scratch your head in amusement.
Nobody ever implied that life should be fair, and nobody said that your business should be hassle-free. In fact, that is why you are in business… to help your clients over and through the rough spots, to circumnavigate the roadblocks, and to dip under the low-hanging limbs.
Nobody is better at this than you, and “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” (Another popular phrase. And I believe the name of a song from the eighties.)
If booking detailed travel itineraries was easy, there would be no need for you, your contacts, your experience, or your professionalism. You did not get this far in life by accident. Who you are today is the sum total of everything you have experienced along the way. The result? You are good. You are real good. Now go out there and be good.
Hang in there when things get rough. Even eagles need a push.
