You, Inc.: Be Interested

“Listening makes you captivating.”

You, Inc. by Harry Beckwith, page 97

How To Be Fascinating

It seems that I have been harping on this sound bite for some time now… and for good reason. Very few people today are good at listening what others have to say. “Why is this?” you ask. Simply because people are waiting their turn to speak.

I am reminded of the sage advice that if you want to be considered as an interesting person, the key is to first become interested in others. No truer advice has ever been shared.

The less you say at social events, the more intriguing you become. The mere fact that you are tuned in and focused on what others have to say positions you as a fascinating person. Fascinating, interesting, intriguing or not, you will position yourself as being exactly that by simply listening to others.

What have you got to lose? Give listening a shot.
