As terse as this may sound, the truth is that many travel agents are not sure of the role they play and they don’t believe that they are truly contributing to the buying relationship.
Like many meaningful endeavors, the sales profession has as much to do with attitude as it does with mechanical acumen. I have been saying for years that enthusiasm sells.
Just like dogs can detect fear in humans, people have a similar BS Meter. We can tell when you don’t believe in your business, your industry, your family, your career, or yourself. We can tell when you are not telling us the whole story.
Once you realize that you are not in business to hurt me, fleece me, cheat me, steal from me, or take advantage of me in any way shape or form, the sooner you will be positioned as one of the good guys.
The truth is that there is only one reason you are in business. And that reason is to help me.
Once you realize (and deeply believe) that your primary purpose is to help your prospects and clients make better travel related decisions, the fear of rejection and all other fears are going to disappear.
The first step is to start believing in yourself. The next step is to introduce yourself to me believing that you are in position to help me.
