Boomerang Escapes — “Controlled” Chaos

I can’t believe it’s already time for me to make another entry. Things have been wild and crazy here. I put an offer in on a condo, put an offer in on another condo, and then eventually ended up with an accepted offer and closing date on my original offer that I made when I went in April on my house hunt—you following? The sale is moving along nicely now, and I will officially be in my new location sometime in the middle of July. In the time between closing here (which is only one week away) and establishing myself there, I will head off to my sister’s (one of my first ICs) and operate the business from her location while working out all the details of moving my LLC from Tennessee to New Jersey.

Meanwhile, “controlled” chaos has remained here with all the things that go into selling and moving. It truly has been moving madness coordinating with contractors for necessary home repairs, moving the ex-husband to his new apartment, finding a rental for my college kids, and moving them to it. In the midst of it all, business continued to go on.

The second week of May took me to Jamaica for one of my two TESA (Travel Entrepreneur Success Academy) meetings. It was a much needed escape to the beautiful island of Jamaica with the event being held at Sandals Ochi. Seriously, do we not have one of the best jobs in the world where a business trip feels like vacation? In addition to our two days of mindset and media coaching (BTW, I got some great nuggets from there that spurred some very inspirational ideas for shaping the business once I’ve landed in NJ), we had the opportunity to do our Sandals recertification. I don’t know about you, but I love when I get to do my CSS training on site. In addition to the class training, we did site inspections of the other Ocho Rios properties. It was a great refresher since I hadn’t been to Ocho Rios since 2010.

After Jamaica, it was back to Memphis to continue with the moving process and attend a Karisma Resorts hosted breakfast. While I don’t do much in the way of the Caribbean myself anymore, I like to stay up to date for my ICs and had one of the newest ones with me in attendance. We all have or are presently working on having very specific niches. I am currently grooming this agent to work in the romance travel market. She was lucky enough to be the winner of the main giveaway, and will be headed to El Dorado Seaside sometime this year.

On my own personal sales front, I couldn’t have been more delighted when I heard from Travel2 that I had once again managed to be one of their top sellers for my consortium, TravelSavers, during the tracking period of January to May, and I will get to head back to Australia in August for the Amazing Aussie Adventure. This is the 3rd time I have been invited to attend this amazing training opportunity in Australia. I’ve been working very hard these past few years with the opening of my agency to establish myself as the “Aussie Expert”. What better way than to continue to have hands-on destination knowledge in my niche? I’m very excited to go back for what will be my 3rd visit within 12 months.

Next month, I look forward to sharing all about the move and transferring my business. Until then, it’s life and business as “normal.” As normal as that can be!
