  • Auckland can be found in New Zealand’s North Island, and is the largest urban area in New Zealand. The city is diverse and multicultural, making it the most cosmopolitan city in New Zealand. There are many different activities, landmarks, and sites in Auckland to entertained even the most seasoned visitor. One of the most popular pleasures of the area is the Sky Tower. This communication and observation tower rises over 1,000 feet, offering some of the most breathtaking views of the city. It is both the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere as well as the 23rd tallest building in the world. It’s height and shape have made it quite a staple in the Auckland skyline. The tower gets over a thousand visitors daily. Dine on an exquisite meal at the rotating restaurant located on the 52nd level of the Sky Tower, so you can view Auckland from all directions. For the adrenaline junkie in your group there’s the SkyJump: a 630ft. jump from one of the observation deck levels of the building. Just make sure to do the jump before your meal instead of after!
  • Another landmark piece of architecture worth seeing in Auckland is the Auckland Harbour Bridge. It stretches over 3,000 ft. and was just recently approved for cycle and walkway additions. Dubbed the “Skypath” it will make transportation for anyone not traveling by car or bus much easier. The Auckland War Memorial Museum is one of the most important heritage sites and museums in the city. The building itself is quite a beautiful one, and one of the most iconic in Auckland. Constructed in a neoclassical style, the war memorial actually sits on what used to be a volcano. The museum and its exhibits focus on the history of both New Zealand, and its military. The museum has an array of artifacts, including a photograph collection of over a million images and a collection of natural history specimens. The museum also houses rotating exhibits, ranging in subject matter. Browse the Halls of Memory within the museum, where the names of soldiers lost in both the First and Second world wars are listed.
  • Aotea Square is another interesting area to check out when visiting New Zealand. This open-air paved public area was opened in 1979; it is often used for markets, concerts, and any event of the sort. The area has been renovated quite a few times, making it an even more desirable square. Queen Street, named after Queen Victoria, is right down the way from Aotea Square. It is one of the main retail areas in the city, with most popular stores, restaurants, and banks having a branch located on the street. Spend some time taking it all in, as the street itself has roots that date as far back as 1850! For more outdoor beauty, make sure to go to the Auckland Botanical Gardens. Perfect for all ages and walks of life, the gardens officially opened to the public in 1982. The Botanical Gardens have a few different missions, including contributing to the appreciation and well being of the plants and to inspire and inform the general people about the importance of plants. The Auckland Botanical Gardens also have a visitor’s centre and even a demonstrative home garden. Visitors can really get their hands dirty and learn about plant life at the same time.
  • Another beautiful outdoor experience in Auckland requires a visit to Cornwall Park. This park gives a sense of tranquility and peace in a large bustling city. Pack a picnic lunch and find a quite spot along one of the trails, under the shade of a tree. Listen to a band play on the rotunda with a cup of tea, or go on a lovely cycle adventure. Cornwall Park is the perfect way to spend a day relaxing while still enjoying the beauty of Auckland. The park even has a working farm for the education of the children in the area as well as many different sports courts and fields. The park is also home to many historic sites of heritage to the city of Auckland. Another way to learn more about this New Zealand town’s history is by visiting the New Zealand Maritime Museum. Located on the Hobson Wharf, the museum houses exhibitions that span all of New Zealand’s maritime history. From the first Polynesian settlers to modern-day American triumphs, the New Zealand Maritime Museum covers every bit of seafaring history. The collections vary as well: from art to artifacts, articles and photos.
  • While Auckland has more than enough to offer visitors and residents alike, Goway is currently featuring Hawaii in a few of their travel specials along with New Zealand’s wonderful city. In Hawaii, there are just as many exciting and educational experiences. For example, a visit to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The heart of the park actually belongs to two active volcanoes! You can take the crater rim drive tour or hike through some of the trails that span nearly 150 miles of the park. You can even camp at one of the two campgrounds located within the park. For some serious adventure, spend a day at the Kualoa Ranch, where you can zip line, ride ATV’s, and even tour Hollywood filming locations.
