  • Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia. It is an old city that lies along the Sava River. The architecture of the city suggests a medieval charm similar to Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. Zagreb can be divided into two primary areas: Upper Town (Gornji grad) and Lower Town (Donji grad). The Lower Town is mostly devoted to business, art, and spanning parks. While the Upper Town is where the traveler will find the deep and rich historical feel of the medieval center. There, in the Upper Town, the traveler is taken away by sites such as the Zagreb Cathedral. This cathedral is the tallest building in Croatia, and its spires can be seen from most parts of the city. Completed in 1217, the cathedral is Gothic architecture at its finest. The St. Mark’s Church, which is on St. Mark’s Square, is noticeable for the tiled roof which features two coat-of-arms worked into the tile. One is represents the country of Croatia, and the other the city of Zagreb. The inside of the church is just as impressive as exterior, with exquisite sculptures and Gothic arches that point toward the heavens. In contrast, the Lower Town is full of museums and parks to relax the day away. The Mimara Museum is famous for its extensive archaeological collection, a Far Eastern collections, and work by European masters: Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Vaquez, Manet, and Renoir. The Enthographic Museum teaches the traveler about the origins of Croatian culture, showcasing folk costumes and much more about the uniqueness of Croatian culture. Zagreb is a city for those in love with experiencing a culture through its history and modern day achievements.

  • Hvar Island, off the southern coast of Croatia, is one of the most popular destination on the Adriatic Sea. The hillsides are covered in fertile land which grows fields of lavender, orchards of fruit, and olive groves. Beaches line the coast, ready for the traveler to discover inlets and coves of the clearest blue water. While most of the beaches are pebble instead of sand, the scenery and activities more than makes up for the lack of sand: kitesurfing, windsurfing, and diving. Hvar Town features restaurants and hotels for the traveler, as well as the similar medieval stone streets and structures. The Španjola Fortress in Hvar Town lies on a hill overlooking the city. A quick hike up the hill, and into the fortress, lets the traveler see all that Hvar Town has to offer.
