  • The Torres del Pain, from which the park gets its name, can’t be missed. They are three granite peaks of the Paine mountain range (part of the Andes) that extend up to 8,200 ft above sea level. Valleys separate the grand spires and mountains of the Paine. These are called the Valle del Francé (French Valley), Valle Bader, Valle Ascensio, and Valle del Silencio (Silence Valley). It is said that when the light from the rising sun, these peaks are set afire with light.

  • There are multiple ways for the traveler to experience the park. Short daytours to different parts of the park will let the traveler explore short distances and get a general feeling of the park. There are many buses to the area for such trips. But, to truly see the park, in all of its glory, is do a multi-day hike. The W Circuit is a hike of about 5 days and 4 nights (depending on preference), and is a trek of 62 miles. On this hike you’ll witness some of the astounding beauty contained within the park: a glacier, massive ice fields, mountains cutting the clouds above, and a natural setting in all of its glory. The “O” Circuit has all the sites of the “W”, but takes a wider route and is more of a strain. The “O” usually takes 8 days and 7 nights.

  • The Southern Patagonian Ice Field covers a large part of the park. The stunning features of these fields include mighty glaciers cutting into future valleys: the Dickson, the Grey, and the Tyndall. The ice field extends approximately 220 mi, and has an area of 4,773 sq. mi. The blue and white beauty of these sites can be seen easily from trails leading around the park.
