Little Things Are Big Things

Years ago (quite a few years ago…1961) there was a Broadway Play titled Stop The World! I Want To Get Off. There are times when I find myself wanting to shout at the top of my lungs the same sentiment.

But, as much as we would like things to unfold differently, it appears we are destined to live out the rest of our years on this planet. With that being the case, we might as well make the best of it.

The good news is that it isn’t that hard to make a life worth living. More often than not, it is the little things in life that prove to be the big things. So, as long as you are planning to hang around a bit longer, you might as well start focusing on a few more of the little things.

In the next couple of days, I am going to remind you of a few things that will help improve your current mind-set. Today, I will touch on two of them.

Stand To Greet People

This is a sign of courtesy and simple acts of courtesy never go unnoticed. In a very clear pictorial you are showing your guest that you are pleased to see them and ready to provide a service with nothing but them in mind.

By remaining in a comfortable seated position you are unknowingly depicting a “who is next?” attitude.

Always Carry Your Business Cards

You designed them for a purpose. You printed them for a cost. They are mini-billboards that are 100% ineffective when left in your desk drawer. I was reminded recently from a fellow entrepreneur when I asked him if I could have one of his cards. He replied, “I know better. Amateurs don’t carry their cards. Professionals do. I am embarrassed.” You never know when somebody will ask you for your card. Enough said.

I told you they would be simple, elementary and painfully obvious. But, I am reminded of the phrase that common sense isn’t so common. Get ready for another dose of the obvious tomorrow.
