  • Though it is the smallest capital in Australia, Darwin traces its roots to the aboriginal people that have lived on the continent for over 50,000 years. Darwin, like many coastal cities and ports, is a multicultural society – particularly with its mix of aborigines, Europeans, and other south-east Asian cultures. The Larrakia people, the traditional owners of the city take are still an active part of city. For art lovers, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory contains the largest permanent display of aboriginal art in Australia to meander through. The Darwin Botanic Gardens contains exotic plants and some local wildlife for the traveler to enjoy. Darwin is steeped in its multicultural heritage and is a unique experience for the traveler.

  • A well-known example of the atmosphere in the Northern Territory is Ayers Rock, also known by its original name Uluru. Uluru is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a sacred site to the aboriginal people of the area. This sandstone formation is 1,142 ft high and appears to deepen its red hue around dawn and sunset. Rock formations have ancient aboriginal art for the traveler to get a glimpse of history. But, one of the more enlightening experiences in the area is watching the sunrise touch the Uluru monolith; and, as you await it, to be surrounded by 50,000 frosted glass spheres light up the night. Called the Field of Light, it was created Bruce Munro. Those majestic moments as the traveler is in awe of light is only provided by AAT Kings – as they are the exclusive operators for this event.

  • Only 80 km off the coast of the Northern Territory are the Tiwi Islands. This modern-day Aboriginal community is made up of Melville Island, Bathurst Island, and nine smaller uninhabited islands. Among these islands, the population of Aboriginal people totals less than 3000, making it a small portion of native peoples that were secluded away from the mainland culture. The locals here are welcoming, ready to show the traveler their culture and art. The scenery of the island ranges from rainforest to waterfalls, and fits in perfect with the showings of art and cultural that have formed the removed people of the Tiwi islands.

The Northern Territory, Australia is full of wonderous sights to behold. Magical is an understatement when the traveler witnesses this ancient land. From grand national parks to multicultural cities to the monolith of Uluru – AAT Kings wants to get the traveler out and exploring the dreamtime land with great tours.

Northern Territory

From soul-stirring sunrises over the ochre sands of the Red Centre against a glittering canopy of stars, through to the Top End’s pristine waterfalls and wildlife rich-wetlands, the Northern Territory captivates with untamed natural splendour and spiritual allure. Indulge in the flavours of Aussie bush tucker and contemplate a different world and time in the warm glow of sunset to the tunes of the didgeridoo, timeless Dreamtime landscapes and stories that tell tale of an indigenous culture’s ancient connection with the immortal Outback – this is Australia at its most magical, alluring and profound.

Uluru Sunrise & Field of Light

Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Munro is noted for his immersive site-specific installations that employ light to evoke emotional response, often in an outdoor context and on a monumental scale. His Field of Light, inspired by a trip to Uluru over 27 years ago, is installed in a remote desert area within sight of majestic Uluru. It is his largest installation to date, with Munro and his team installing more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted glass spheres. It is truly a magical sight to behold.
