Travel Research Online (TRO): Hello, Richelle. How are things going with you?

Richelle Emefe (RE): Hello, things are well. The weather is starting to cool down which means consumers are starting to think about their winter vacations.

TRO: You’ve been in sales and marketing for 20 years. What significant changes have you seen in the methods of attracting the attention of present and future clients?

RE: It’s really important to keep your thumb on what’s new and trending and knowing what the client wants.

TRO: You now oversee destinations such as Tahiti, Fiji, Maldives, Greece, and the Seychelles for Goway. That’s quite an array of destinations. Do you have particular methods that help you stay focused with this kind multitasking?

RE: It’s easy to stay focused when you sell the most beautiful places in the world!

TRO: Goway’s Idyllic Islands division almost seems to sell itself, as far as the choice of destinations are concerned. What does Goway bring to the table that separates it from others offering the same destinations?

RE: A company is only as good as its people – and I truly believe we have the best of the best in the industry. We are all Globetrotters at heart and our love and passion for travel unites us.

TRO: Working in the travel industry definitely has its perks. Though, even traveling to amazing destinations around the world for scouting activities and hotels does involve quite a bit of work. How does the Idyllic Islands division go about this?

RE: We have really strong relationships with the Tourism Boards in the destinations we sell, which has helped us tremendously when sourcing new product or ground suppliers.

TRO: But, when you are traveling in your free time, what are your personal favorites around the world?

RE: That’s a tough question. There are so many countries that come to mind for many different reasons. If I had to choose, I suppose the South Island in New Zealand or the Canadian Rockies. Beautiful mountain peaks and turquoise glacier waters paired with an abundant of wildlife and picture-perfect mountain towns and villages – heaven on earth!

TRO: The South Pacific is almost a no-brainer as a choice for destination. Beautiful islands, gracious local communities, and the bluest of water to dive or snorkel through. Was there a specific moment that sparked your passion for getting the word out about the South Pacific?

RE: Funny that you ask that – there is a specific moment that stands out! My first trip to one of the South Pacific Islands was to the Cook Islands. The second we arrived into Aitutaki, I knew I was somewhere special – the view of the lagoon took my breath away. After this trip I was hooked and have been fortunate enough to travel to other island nations such as Tahiti, Fiji and Samoa.

TRO: Does Goway have any announcements or big news in the near future that our readers should be aware of?

RE: Yes, we do have some big news to share. Goway is turning 50 years old in 2020. In a competitive marketplace, with its many ups and downs, for Goway to be standing tall and strong after 50 years is quite an achievement – one that we plan on celebrating throughout 2020 with trip giveaways, travel industry roadshows, mega-fam trips and destination trainings

TRO: Thanks for sparing some time for us, Richelle. We wish you the best.

RE: My pleasure, thank you.
