Podcasts Have Become “The Talk” Of The Town

For the past nine months travel professionals have realized, perhaps more than anybody, that it was not the time to ply their trade. “Hunkering down” vs “Leaving town” became the norm.

Fast forward 280 days and these very same professionals are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The question now involves “how” to initiate interest again without appearing obnoxious, pushy, too edgy, or manipulative. Enter the audio podcast.

Podcasts are not new. They have been available to inquisitive minds for years and now cover just about every topic or subject you can think of. And the time may be right for you to consider hosting your own travel-related podcast as a way to meaningfully re-enter your marketplace, while establishing yourself as the knowledgeable source for information.

Although I hosted my first podcast years go, I recently jumped at the opportunity to work with Travel Research Online when they announced their new division Travel Market Media. There are two reasons I am calling your attention to this resource today. First, to investigate the various podcasters at www.travmarketmedia.com to see the information available to you and to see if these podcasters would contribute to your ongoing professionalism. Second, to get a good idea of how these podcasts are presented and to envision you as a future host of your own topic-specific show.

TRO will soon be offering a free workshop on podcast development which I urge you to take advantage of. Until then, I invite you to check out my new podcast titled Mike’d Up Marchev. I decided to keep my programs short and sweet, realizing you have a zillion other tasks on your daily to-do list. Take a peak at Mike’d Up Marchev, and listen to a few of the pre-recorded episodes.

What is of particular interest about these podcasts is that they can be distributed a number of ways. Mine can be found on iTunes, Spotify and iHeartRadio by searching Mike’d Up Marchev. This allows me to communicate with interested listeners all over the world. And yes, you can too.

Covid-19 may not be a thing of the past quite yet, but you can still begin spreading the good word again while positioning you as the “real deal.” Podcasting just might be what you have been waiting for.
