My nephew and his girlfriend came to visit us this weekend from Brattleboro, VT. Andrew is my sister Mimi’s son, and we were looking forward to meeting his new friend.
The Marchev family consists of a large group of fun-loving people who spend a major portion of their time together laughing and kidding each other mercilessly. I am very pleased to report that Sarah impressed us all and proved to be capable of going toe to toe with the best of us.
But that is not the theme of today’s message. Andrew and Saran met online. Yes. Through a dating App. Sometimes things actually work as designed.
If these two never rolled the dice, chances are they would have never found each other. They took a shot. It appears it was a winning shot. I venture to say that, although I have no direct experience in this field, most dating app acquaintances do not work.
How does this budding relationship relate to your business? I think the correlation is obvious. Borrowing a quote from the great Wayne Gretzky of NHL Hockey fame, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
I am sure about one thing, as it pertains to your business: If you don’t take the appropriate steps in the right direction, not much good can come from your efforts.
Perhaps it is time that you take a risk in favor of your future. Maybe you can step out of your comfort zone for a brief spell and try something totally out of character. Who knows? Your “shot in the dark” just might hit the mark. Someone once reminded us that even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then.
Andrew found Sarah on a whim. Sarah found Andrew because she rolled the dice. Sometimes things do work.
In the interest of time, I chose not to bore you with a few of my successes that came about as a result of my taking a chance. My many failures would probably prove more entertaining, but I will leave those for another day. As for now, let it suffice to say, “Go roll the bones.”
