Summer Has Come and Gone… Again

This year, time may not have flown as it has in the past, but we are looking down the barrel of the last quarter – complete with beautiful foliage. Yesterday, I heard from a local country “hay seed” that this year’s colorful scenery was due to a lack of water. Sounded plausible to me.

We have most of October, November, and December to continue to look for ways to build our businesses and to continue to move forward with some semblance of positivity. And we can use every minute we have.

Nearly 120 days are left this year to find and help other people begin planning their dreams. Three months to shed a few pounds while introducing ourselves to more upbeat, fun, proactive people out there in marketing land.

For many of you, this is alarming news since you have been leaning on and blaming both summer and Covid-19 for the reason your business has taken a hit. Some agents felt they owed it to themselves to back-off during June, July, and August as a way to give their prospects some breathing room.

Among a few other things, I have come to learn that nobody owes me a living. And likewise, nobody owes you a living. What you do about your business is your business. But please, do not think for a moment that your competition is going to take the next four months off. Because some of them won’t.

Please do not misinterpret my suggestion. I am not inferring that you become an arrogant, manipulative, sleazy, fast-talking, replication of yesterday’s sales bag or, should I say, a “sleaze bag.” Quite the contrary.

I want you to leap out of bed for the next 120 mornings with the intention of brightening up somebody’s life. I once reminded you that a few choice words directed at the right person can indeed make a positive and uplifting impression.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and toss a few chosen words toward your customers, prospects, ex-clients, and preferred suppliers. Do what you can to bring a little sunshine to your “posse.”

The clock is ticking and it is already October. The operative word for the rest of the year is “ACTION.” I really don’t care what you do, as long as you do “something.”
