Here come the guests – Wedding travel on an upward but pricey trend

Wedding guests

A recently released Priceline “Wedding Travel Report” indicates travel for weddings will surge this year as people make up for two years of lost time. The report estimates that Americans spend more than $2,700 on average to attend a wedding “out of town.”  79% of those responding to the survey said they planned to attend a wedding in the coming year that required travel, with 50% stating they have had to decline invites because of multiple wedding events scheduled at the same time.

The high cost of wedding travel impacts the decision making process of attendees generationally, with many trying to save on travel costs using various techniques such as airline and hotel points, booking early, road trips vs. flying, and finding “a good deal on a hotel or flight more important than a date/plus one.”

81% indicated inflation is making finding a good price on wedding travel more important this year.
