Seine, Paris, & Normandy River Cruise
Riviera’s Seine itinerary sails roundtrip from Paris, one of the most beautiful and magical cities in the world. The itinerary continues downriver to Normandy, where you will visit Rouen, known for its gothic cathedral and mixed of architectural styles, and, of course, the historically significant beaches of Normandy, where U.S. troops bravely landed on D-Day.
Burgundy, the River Rhone, & Provence River Cruise
This itinerary sails from Lyon to Avignon or reverse. The Rhône is another special itinerary, visiting some of the most gorgeous cities in France. Stops on this itinerary include Tournon with its vineyard clad hills; Viviers, a small town that will make you feel as if you’ve traveled back to the Middle Ages as you wind through its streets; and Avignon, which feels like a well kept secret behind its stone-walled perimeter, just to name a few.
Why We Like It
In October, I had the privilege of sailing the Rhône river, and in March, I sailed the Seine. France is one of my favorite places to river cruise because of the country’s beauty and historical attractions.
Booking a trip on the Seine is almost worth it for a few nights spent in Paris alone. That combined with the landing beaches of Normandy and the quaint towns you will visit along the way make this a perfect itinerary for anyone looking to spend more time in Northern France. The Rhône has become one of my favorite rivers in the past few years. The beauty of the south of France is something I didn’t understand until I visited myself. Avignon is one of the most wonderful cities I have ever been to. It feels like a medieval fortress tucked behind its stone walls. The beauty of the city transports you back in time, but as you walk into the center of the city you are met by many cute restaurants and shops. (I did a lot of shopping in Avignon last time I was there … Are you sensing a theme?) The beauty of this region is the real draw and it would make an incredible summer vacation, though even when I was there in October the weather was warm enough to enjoy time on deck. Sipping rosé on the river as we cruise through Provence? Sign me up!
