Viking completes its inaugural Great Lakes voyage

The Viking Octantis just completed its first Great Lakes voyage. The Octantis is the largest ship to cruise the Great Lakes. The 665-foot liner began its itinerary in Toronto arriving in port on May 6th in Milwaukee. The ship carries up to 378 passengers and 256 crew members. The itinerary included Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Detroit, Alpena, Mackinac Island, and Milwaukee.

This year Viking Cruises is offering four itineraries on the Great Lakes, ranging from 8-15 days. Pre & Post Cruise extensions are available and shore excursions include kayaking, hiking, wildlife viewing opportunities, museums, and cultural exhibitions.

Viking launched the Polar Class Octantis in January of this year. It spent the first part of its maiden season in Antarctica and is now sailing the Great Lakes. A second, identical sister ship, Viking Polaris, joins the fleet this Summer for journeys to the Arctic and Antarctica.
