Riviera River Cruises: The Best For Solo Travelers?

It is no secret that solo travelers often pay more than those traveling in couples or with groups. Solo passengers usually pay single supplements, meaning that they usually must dole out what a couple would pay for the same stateroom.

There are often specials and promotions for solo travelers, and some companies do have solo cabins on their ship, but oftentimes these promotions can leave solo travelers scrambling to find an itinerary or ship with solo space. Riviera River Cruises has taken a different approach. Not only does Riviera hold between four and six solo cabins for every single one of its departures, but it also offers a number of solo-only itineraries. This means that there is no single supplement on any cabin and that all of those onboard are rooming alone.

Riviera’s solo itineraries are the reason that we rank the company number one for solo travelers. We are big fans of Riviera for other reasons too.

What I particularly like about these sailings is the ability to get many different solo travelers together. As someone who often sails alone I know that it can be hard to “infiltrate” a group of cruisers that are made up of couples, family members, or friends. Though I’ve never felt like I had to sit alone at meals or in the lounge, solo travelers may find it easier to mingle if everyone on their sailing is traveling solo. Plus, cruising with like-minded travelers can make the journey more fun.

On the flip side, this is also a good option for groups of friends looking to travel. Want to travel with your best friend who snores? Fear not. If the solo supplement is waived for all rooms on a particular voyage, you and your friend can both have your own room paying the same amount as you’d pay if you shared.
