8 Reasons to be Thankful in 2022

Where did the year go? No, it is not the COVID funk that has our collective sense of time all warped. It seems like yesterday it was spring, and we were all enthused with the glacial pace of the return to normalcy. I looked at the calendar and realized it was November.  NOVEMBER!!  I need to order my 2023 calendar and more to the point, I realized that Thanksgiving is this week! And let’s be honest, there is a lot to be thankful for!

  1. I am thankful that I figured out it was November and there is still time to finalize my 2023 marketing and business plans in order. They’re mostly done, just need to tweak.
  2. I am very thankful that it is not 2020, 2021, or 2022.  The recovery from COVID has been long and hard and with each year, I see stronger returns to normal; but I never imagined the pandemic would last that long, and the recovery would be this drawn out.
  3. I am thankful for my clients, many of whom I consider friends and especially to those who have decided to resume traveling.
  4. I am thankful for my suppliers and the relationships we have forged over the years. It is because of these relationships that had each other’s backs over the past three years!
  5. I am grateful for the network of colleagues that keep me grounded and consistently bail me out when I am over my head. It is a great thing to have colleagues smarter than you and with more experience.
  6. I am thankful for TRO! OK, so I may be biased a bit; but this is such a great resource for travel professionals. If you aren’t aware of the depth, take a half hour and click through all the links on the homepage–you will be surprised.
  7. I am thankful that way back in 1997 I decided to join this rat race. Over the years I have questioned it–but as I did in 1997, I still see a ton of potential.
  8. And finally, I am thankful for you. You scrolled down and made it to the end of this missive –thank you!

How about you? Leave a comment with some of the things for which you are thankful.

Wishing you all a wonderful, peaceful, Thanksgiving! Bring on the turkey!
