The Last TWA Flight

On this day in 2001, Trans World Airlines Flight 220 landed in St. Louis International Airport, ending 71 years of TWA operations. TWA’s assets were purchased by American Airlines. Flight 220 was piloted by Captain Bill Compton.

Started in 1930, TWA filed three times for bankruptcy during its history, the last just prior to its acquisition by American.
