James Dean Dies

Iconic actor James Byron Dean died on this date in 1955 from injuries sustained in a head-on motor vehicle accident.

Best know for his role in Rebel Without a Cause, Dean symbolized the rebelliousness of youth for a generation. Although only 24 years old at his death, Dean was nominated for two Academy Awards, both posthumously, even though he appeared in only three films his entire career.

He was buried at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana.
