In the 1970s, our founder, Pall Kapoor, was a student in Washington, D.C. To make some extra money, he began buying and reselling airline tickets within his native Indian community. He soon found that this part-time means of serving his community had the potential for a full-time business.
In 1980, Pall opened Trans American Travel (later changed to Trans Am Travel) in Alexandria, Virginia to serve the Washington Metropolitan area. United Airlines was the first to take a chance on the then little-known company. The airline provided Trans Am Travel with its first Consolidator contract for discounted airfares in the Asian market.
Today, Trans Am Travel is not only one of United Airlines largest consolidators, but we are also the only agency to possess all of United Airlines’ consolidator contracts, including Asia, Europe, Latin America and the South Pacific. Trans Am Travel is now partnered with 72 different airlines, including Northwest/KLM, Lufthansa, Continental, Air France, Qantas and more. Through these airlines, Trans Am Travel is able to offer more than 12 million discounted net fares to our customers.
